Greetings from the Netherlands

Hallo everyone!!

I have safely arrived in Holland. I am staying with my rotary counsellor, Erna Koster and her family for my first week. She has three children, Inge (17), Vera (18) and Rob (19) and her husband, Theo. They all are very nice people. They live on a small hobby farm with chickens, a horse, vegetables and fruits. During my first full day in Holland, Erna, Theo, Inge and myself visited the Nederlands Open Air Museum. It was a very nice museum, showcasing ducth houses and lifestyles over the years. I tried my first "drop". I have to say that I am not a big fan yet. Maybe that will change with time. The last few days I have been busy shopping in Arnhem, becoming a registered citizen of Doetinchem, practicing Dutch, and horseback riding. I am having a great time so far. I am learning so much about the lifestyle all ready!! On Saturday I will travel to Schiedam for the Ducth Orientation Course. I am very excited to meet the other exchange students and I will hopefully improve my dutch as well.

I would like to say hello to everyone back home. I miss you all very much and I wish you could be here with me! To all exchange students, I wish you all the best in your year ahead, and I want to hear updates from everyone!! I plan on keeping this website updated with all my adventures and OF COURSE pictures. Have an amazing year everyone!! A special thanks goes out to the Rotarians of Norfolk Sunrise, for their generous support of this amazing program. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to experience the Rotary Youth Exchange Program. Thanks again! Tot Ziens!!

Much Love,

Deirdre xoxo
