HEY HEY HEY... I have more to say!!

HALLO again...

I am now staying with my first host family. I am staying with Klaas Bakker and Japke Huisman, who live in Doetinchem. They have two daughters, Marte (19) and Anne (17). Marte is off to Norway next week for the year and Anne is entering her final year of high school. They have all been very kind to me as I adjust to living with their family. This week I had the opportunity to participant in a sailing adventure with the exchange students hosted by the Rotary Club of Doesburg. These students are part of a two week exchange program in Holland. It was a very interesting and exciting day as I was able to meet teenagers from countries such as Italy, Spain, Russia, Israel, Egpyt, Belarus, Poland, Turkey, Ukraine, Solvakia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Serbia, and Chez Republic. For dinner I enjoyed a gourmetten meal with the students from Israel, Russia, Turkey and Poland, as well as with their host parents for the week.

I have now been in the Netherlands for nearly three weeks. I have been exposed to many Dutch habits, which are very different from Canadian ones. Each day I experience new things and become better adjusted to my new life in Holland. Things are about to change again, as I begin school next week. I am very excited to meet the teachers and students of Rietveld, and to begin my lessons.

Well, I now have to wrap up this update session. I have more new experiences to share with you all, so be sure to check out my blog again in the near future. For all of those in Simcoe, enjoy your last week of vacation before you head off to University, College or back to HT!!! I miss you all very much!!! I would also like to acknowledge the Rotarians of Doetinchem. Firstly, I would like to thank you all for visiting my web log. In addition, thank you for welcoming me to this new, foreign, and intriguing land!!! Tot ziens!

Much love,

Deirdre xoxoxo
